I'm Sorry

Well hello out there. I am sorry that I haven't been posting much lately. I have been extremely busy with trying to get my website up and running. I have also been on the run a lot lately for the same reason. So know that I am checking up on all of my friends, but I don't necessarily post comments. I miss all of you and hope that you are all well. When things calm down a bit and my internet stops acting up I will be able to post more often. But I have been also posting more on Myspace and you can check the link on the side of this page at the top. But like I said it has more to do with my work. So that is about it for now.

Blesse Be.

What's your raunch factor? Let's put a dollar value on that!

Here’s how it works:
You don’t have to confess your answers, just the amount of your fine. And NO, it is not PER incident (otherwise, some of us would have totals more than the national debt!).

An Inconvenient Truth

Hello out there. I know that those of you that actually come to my site and read my blog are the kind of people that would like to learn more about taking care of our planet. I just watched the movie by Al Gore "An Inconvenient Truth" last night with my husband. I was distressed and dismayed at how quickly we are killing our planet and ourselves.

I have always been a granola hippie type girl. I have always tried to voice my opinion and work on ways of being kinder to our planet too. But I admit to also getting lazy and driving more than I should and using a lot of plastic and not buying organic whenever possible to save money or time.

But after watching this movie and seeing direct evidence of how quickly our planet is going to kill us because we are killing her. I am dismayed. But also opitmistic to know that we can change what we are doing. We can vote for people in office that will put into action plans that will save our planet's resources. We can reduce, recycle and reuse. We can shop at our local food coop. We can walk or ride a bike or public transportation instead of always using our cars. When we purchase a car we can choose one that is gentler to our ecosystem and on our wallets for the price of oil. We can use renewable energy sources like wind and solar power. We can used biodiesel fuel for diesel engines. We can use cars that run on flex fuel such as E85. We can plant lots and lots of trees. We can all change all or our household lightbulbs to energy efficient ones. And so many more!!! This also saves money!!

All of these things will help our local economies. They will help our planetary climate by reducing the amount of carbon dioxide released into the air. This will in turn help our personal lives. We won't have as many weather related disasters, such as wildfires, hurricanes, tornadoes, melting glaciers.

We all have to do something. I know it can be hard at first. But if we all start somewhere small in our lives we will all benefit. Then we can add more things to help and it becomes a snowball effect in a good way for ourselves, our children, and our planet.

"It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his Salary depends on his Not understanding it" Upton Sinclair.

Marriage Counseling

Helo again. I know I have been rather infrequent these days in posting. I used to post nearly every day. Now I get consumed with watching t.v. and dealing with my 3 year old. I know I can be very lazy. And also since my husband and I have been on difficult terms he is sleeping in the basement. That is where the computer is. So of course I don't get as much time as I would like to be on it and blogging or doing my work for my new website.

So my husband and I went to our first session of counseling yesterday. It seemed fruitful. I was acutually surprised at how much we actually talked about. I have been saying all of the same things I say at home. But my husband seemed to listen more. At least it seemed like it at the office. Now we will have to see if we are able to put some of the stuff into practice.

The things I need for him to work on are his being responsible for himself. He likes to act like a spoiled teenager. He wants all of the fun of being an adult with none of the responsiblity. I of course have let him get away with this our entire relationship. And before we had a child it was annoying and even led me to call off our wedding 2 weeks before the day. But then we went to a counselor twice and I thought we could handle things. Plus I really wanted to be married and to have a child. So I got married anyway. And of course I still loved him. But then we had a child and the responsiblity for him has been overwhelming for me. I already feel like a single parent a lot of the time. And all of this has made it so that I want a divorce. But I do love my husband and want a good father for my child. So we are trying counseling. I hope it works. If not hopefully it will help us to be better parents to our child.

And as all of you know my husband is bipolar and goes to counseling every other week. Well we are actually using his therapist for our marriage counselor. She is all we can afford right now. And since his illness seems to be in check she and my husband are both willing to make the sessions just about the two of us for a while. I am totally grateful for that. I wish we could afford to go at least once a week or more right now. But unfortunately that isn't possible. His therapist is even on a sliding scale. But he makes too much money to get a bigger discount. So we will have to work with what we have.

If anyone wants to comment or has some advice please let me know. I could use all of the support I can get. Thanks to everyone in advance.

Blessed Be.

Vacation...All I Ever Wanted

Well, well, well. So much has happened in a short amount of time. As we all know there was not one but 2 Huge Blizzards in about a week. Thank the goddess that I was only stuck in one of them. And as of this evening we are getting more snow. Somewhere between 4-8 inches by tomorrow afternoon. Now this is the reason that I always wanted to live in Colorado!! But for the last 10 years or so we don't get this much snow. So I am glad to finally have it. But it does cause some problems.

And now for the vacation. Well I left my home on Christmas Eve and got to the airport 3 hours before departure. I wanted to be safe. I checked all day to make sure my flight wasn't going to be cancelled. And lucky for me it all went off without a hitch. I got to St. Louis around 10:30pm and made it to my sister's house about an hour later. So all we did was get ready for bed. The next morning Santa had been there and there were tons of presents. My son was overjoyed. I also raked it in. Plus my sister was so sweet as to make this french toast casserole thing with apples and cranberries. One of the best things I ever tasted. My sister and I don't get along on a lot of stuff, but food is not one of them. She is a fabulous cook!!!!

My sister had to spend Xmas day with the inlaws. And of to Granny's house we go, my son, myself and my mother were on our way driving to Paducah Kentucky. Home, Sweet Home. My cousin and my Aunt P. had just arrived before us. And we all sat around giving more gifts and waiting for the rest of the family for a great dinner. And then for more gifts. Have I mentioned I have a large Catholic family? So it was a day for gluttony. Fun was had by all.

The next day my cousin M. and my Aunt P. and my son and myself piled in another car and went to Lexington Kentucky and stayed till Friday. Then back to Paducah for my Granny's 80th Birthday party Saturday. Big bash with lots of relatives. Around 50 people ( and no that is not everyone). But we had made enough food for 200. So there were a lot of leftovers that we all ate for days. For breakfast, lunch and dinner. Needless to say that I am sick of pigs in a blanket. I only wish we had more cake left over.

Sunday we went to Mayfield Kentucky to see my Uncle J. We stayed for a few hours, had lunch and hung around the farm. My son loved going for rides on the Mule ( the 4 wheeler type vehicle, not the animal) Then back in the car for another 4 hours back to St. Louis in New Year's Eve. We arrived around 10:30 and once again got ready for bed.

Monday we hung around the house with my sister and her husband. Then the kid had a huge meltdown. He had a bunch on the trip. He was sick when we left so he didn't have the greatest time. Tuesday I made a belated Birthday dinner for my sister and came home yesterday.

So that is the gist of it. I am too tired right now to go in any more detail. But my son got tons of Thomas the train gear. So much that I had to ship it back here. Not enough room in the suitcases to bring on the plane.

Blessed Be.
Hope everyone else had good Holidays!!!
