Thanksgiving weekend

Well hello all! I know it has been ages since I have written anything. It has just been a madhouse around here. First the car and then getting ready for Thanksgiving.

Well we got a rental car for a while since the car was totaled. We will be getting a check in the mail as soon as we send them the title for the car. But since it was a holiday, this all has to wait till tomorrow.

And in the meantime I have been cleaning the house like a mad woman. My sister and her husband came into town for Thanksgiving and to visit my father and stepmother in Colorado Springs. So my house needed to be spotless for them. Luckily we have a finished basement with a full bath and set it up for them. The only problem is that we don't have extra beds for guests. So she brought along a blow up mattress from home. Everything went swimmingly. They had their own space to retreat to, plus she only stayed with us overnight. Then we went to the Springs to visit my parents for the Big Turkey Day.

Turkey Day went pretty well. We had a ton of food. And everyone got along pretty well. D. got a bunch of presents from my parents for Xmas since we will be going to Kentucky for the Holidays. He got a "leather" motorcycle jacket, a kids laptop, some books, and a race car. Of course he likes the race car best. My sister gave him that one. Plus we brought his train set from home. He is obsessed with Thomas the Train and the movie "Cars" right now.

Then on Saturday my sister came back up to Denver before they left town. We all went to the Butterfly Pavillion. D. loves it. He thinks of the 'Shrunk " exhibit like a playground. We even got there in time to see the new butterflies released for the day.

So all in all we had a great time. My sister and I didn't have a single argument. It was wonderful.

I hope you all had as good a time as us. Hopefully my sis will email me some pics so I can post them.

Blessed Be.

The Car was Totaled

Well hello again. I know I keep forgetting about my page. Sorry for that. It has been a long week. Unfortunately the car was totaled. I know most people want that to happen so they can get a new car. But our car wasn't worth much. So now we have to look for a car. I was hoping that I could do this online more easily. But cars in our price range are hard to find. We only have about $1000. So if anyone knows of a good deal on a used car with hopefully less than !00,000 miles and it has to be a 4 door. That would be great. Plus it needs to pass emissions and all of the usual stuff. We really can't afford a car that needs a lot of work right now. That is about it.

Blessed Be.

Sorry, I just realized I hadn't posted anything in a while. Well some of you already know my news. My husband got into an accident on Tuesday evening. He was on his way home from work and entering an onramp to the main street to our house. He was going about 20 mph and was looking in his blindspot to the left to look for oncoming traffic. Well in that time the person in front of him stopped short. My husband slammed the brakes, but it was too late. He rear ended the person in front of him. So the whole front end of our car now looks like an accordian. It is totally undrivable and we think it will be over $3,000 to repair. The car is only worth about $1,100. So our insurance is most likely going to total it. Which in a way sucks more. Since we have a $500 deductable we will only get about $600. We can't buy a car for that. And of course we don't have any money in savings. So what are we going to do? We have no idea. But we are already in the process of looking for another car. But hey the good news is that right now we have a loaner car that is pretty nice.

And of course I am still sick. I lost my voice today and I have been coughing up a storm.

Blessed Be.

RevGalBlogPals Friday Five: Nothing but the Tooth!

1) The Tooth Fairy
love her. I love all fairy's. And especially those that give money away. I know it is actually payment, but it doesn't seem like a fair trade as an adult. and since my kid is too young I don't even know how much he will get.
2) Flossing
right now it is several times a day. I have some issues with my teeth. I have a cavity and I don't have insurance. So I am using a lot of over the counter stuff to keep the food out of it and reduce the pain.
3) Toothpaste Brands
Tom's Natural toothpaste in Cinnamint. I love it!!. After I got pregnant and regular toothpaste made me ill, I switched and I don't really want to go back.
4) Orthodontia for Adults
i wish our insurance would cover it! i really don't think it's all vanity. i mean if you're willing to wear braces as a grown-up, then you have real issues about your teeth and it's likely a very good thing you are taking care of it! ( I feel the same way as hipchick)
5) Whitening products
Well they make your teeth sensitive. And I already don't have the greatest genes when it comes to my teeth. They are very brtittle in my family. So I have used them a couple of times. But I don't recommend them. Plus they are made with hydrogen peroxide, the same stuff to bleach your hair.

The days after Halloween

Well hello and I hope everyone had a fabulous Halloween. Mine in fact will not be over till after this weekend. I have a costume party to go to. But this past weekend went pretty well as well.

First on Saturday I went out with some friends and we all dressed up and went to the bar. I was a the Wicked Witch of the West of course. We all had a good time while we were out. My one friend was a dark fairy and another was a wizard and her date was a jester. But we also had a good time looking at all of the other costumes out there. My favorite was a guy dressed as Edward scissorhands with his date that looked like Wynona Rider. But I don't think they won. But they came in Second. The first place winner was a guy dressed like Yosemite Sam. It was awesome.

Then on to Monday. My husband and I took our son to one of the local highschools for Trick or Treat Street. They dress up the hallways in cartoon themes and give out candy to the little kids. It is safe and warm. Since it is always cold and most of the time snowing here, we like to stay indoors. Our son was Buzz Lightyear. He just loves him. And he got a ton of candy. Should last us the whole year.

And on Halloween we went to the local mall. I dressed up as Cleopatra. It was easier and a lot less makeup that wasn't as itchy. And our son was Buzz again. So off to get more candy. But my husband took our son to the playground first so by the time we got to the mall, our son was pretty tired. He didn't really want to be wearing parts of his costume anymore. And he wasn't being his usual polite self. So we cut the night short and went home to watch movies. So fun was had by all.

Unfortuanately, my husband has had a pretty bad cold and now has passed it on to our son. I just hope I won't be next.

Blessed Be.
